Herbal medicine? Herbal tea? What is phytotherapy really? Phytotherapy is our passion – and it’s also a complicated word. So, let us give you an overview!

What is phytotherapy?

[Phytotherapy is the cure, the alleviation and prevention of disease and discomfort through the use of medicinal plants, their parts or their components].

What is not phytotherapy?

Phytotherapy is not homeopathy, Bach flower therapy, aromatherapy, anthroposophy, or Ayurveda. Because even though these therapies may also use plants, they are not based on a corresponding scientific framework.

What else is important to know?

Phytotherapy…

…is regulated by the Medicinal Products Act.

…is part of scientifically oriented medicine. This means that it follows scientific, causal and symptomatic therapy principles.

...is based on scientific findings.

...is frequently used for chronic diseases, since it can provide long-term support.

...is known to have fewer side effects than conventional medicinal preparations. However, side effects may occur nonetheless, for example due to inaccurate dosage or incorrect application.
